Charlotte Rae – Then
Mrs. Garret was played by Charlotte, the character of a housekeeper at Eastland prep school who was also in charge of taking the girls under her wing. While the first season hosted seven girls in the house, season two brought significant change to the plot. The show’s producers thought it would be better to focus on fewer characters but more in depth. Mrs. Garret’s character was also made more 3-dimensional since she began as a caretaker but developed into the role of a businesswoman and dietician.
