He Defers His Salary
Apart from being a good samaritan, Keanu Reeves has been known to defer his salary to get fellow actors in his movies. The actor has worked with an impressive list of actors, including Al Pacino, Gene Hackman, and Jack Nicholson, to name a few. Reeves willingly deferred his pay in order fort he producers to free up some of their budgets to be able to afford these actors. “Is that all I have to do?” Reeves recalled asking producers. “Sure! What else do I have to do? ‘Cause I’ll do it!”
A Published Poet
Reeves collaborated with artist Alexandra Grant in 2011 and released “Ode to Happiness,” a limited-run book. The book featured a poem written by Reeves, accompanied by Grant’s illustrations for each line. The two ended up collaborating again in 2016 and are now pursuing their own publishing imprint.
Keanu was raised in Toronto, where he gained a liking for ice hockey. The actor played throughout school, and eventually co-coached a hockey club. It seems like Reeves was so good, he even had the opportunity to try out for the Windsor Spitfires, an Ontario Hockey League team. As we know, Reeves turned it down to focus his future in performing.
