Cadillac Escalade ESV
Predicted Cost: $78,195
You may have noticed that the 2020 Cadillac Escalade was already mentioned a few entries back, but the ESV letters at the end of its name are what make this car into a completely different beast. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade ESV is a redesigned version of the Escalade with 300 fewer pounds of weight and a new platform similar to the one on the 2019 Silverado and the Sierra 1500. You can expect to find a new independent rear suspension option which makes rides more comfortable according to Cadillac, as-well-as new tech options, including new gauge displays and a redesigned infotainment system.
The biggest difference between the Escalade and Escalade ESV is the length of the cars. The standard Escalade measures at a length of 203.9 inches while the ESV adds an extra 21 inches to a total of 224, which gives it a much larger cargo, more room for passengers, and a fuel capacity of 31 gallons instead of 26. Both cars remain as some of the most popular cars in the luxury SUV market.
Hyundai Santa Cruz Pickup
Predicted Cost: $18,000
It’s an understatement to say that Hyundai isn’t exactly known for their pickup trucks. The South Korean automaker mostly specializes in entry-level and executive vehicles, which makes sense because South Koreans aren’t nearly as obsessed about offroad action as Americans. In 2015, an executive at Hyundai thought it would be a good idea to try building a pickup truck that caters to North American audiences. It took three attempts at approving the project before the Hyundai Santa Cruz Pickup went from an idea to an actual car for sale. Kia and Hyundai are partnering up to develop the car together, meaning that we’re likely to see a Kia pickup of a similar kind soon.
The compact truck will be built at Hyundai's manufacturing plant in Alabama and is set for a 2021 release. The companies are planning to invest $410 million to expand their facilities for this process while creating an additional 200 jobs. It's believed that the Santa Cruz Pickup will feature a 2.5-liter I-4 engine boasting 191 horsepower. Whether or not it ends up performing to satisfactory results remains to be seen. One thing we can say for sure is that the Santa Cruz Pickup is an absolute joy to behold.
Nissan Z
Predicted Cost: $30,090
Nissan has been working hard over the last few years to create some truly amazing sports cars, with many fans claiming that the Nissan 370Z and the GT-R are some of the best sports cars in recent generations. In 2020, Nissan is going to add a new car to its lineup of sports vehicles and everyone is already getting excited. According to Nissan, the 2020 Nissan Z is a small supercar of its own, with 350 horsepower thanks to its brutal 3.7-liter V6 engine. In-terms of gas-mileage, the company claims you should expect 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 on the highway, which is quite high, even for a sports car.
The Nissan Z will arrive in multiple models and includes either manual or automatic transmission. You’ll have a choice between a base version, a touring version or a NISMO version, with the former costing around $30,000 and the later a much higher $47,000. We’re extremely excited to give the Nissan Z a go when it hopefully comes out in mid-2020, mostly because the 370Z and the GT-R have both been incredible sports cars and Nissan is likely going to raise the bar even further with this one.
Chevrolet FNR-X
Predicted Cost: $35,000
It took Chevrolet three years to take its concept of the FNR-X from concept to execution. The car originally debuted in 2017 to mixed reactions and is slated to hit the markets sometime in 2020. The FNR-X is Chevrolet’s version of an excellent hybrid that’s fast, modern and sleek. Its design is much edgier and bold than Chevy’s usual lineup, making it a great contender for one of next year’s best new surprises. Some of the features you’re going to find in the FNR-X include remote control doors, speech recognition, a customizable ID information system, and the beloved driver assist.
You can expect a decent-sized cargo in the FNR-X, especially when compared to some of Chevy’s other vehicles. The plug-in hybrid contains both a regular engine and an electric motor, with two driving modes — the 'V' which stands for Versatility and the 'S' which stands for Sports. You'll also enjoy a dynamic and customizable suspension and handling profile which you can tailor on-demand based on your style and needs. If you’re looking to purchase a hybrid car in the next few months, it might be a good idea to wait until next year because this just might be the ideal car for you.
BMW X3e
Predicted Cost: $65,000
The last entry on our list is also one of the most exciting. BMW has been selling its luxurious X SUV lineup like crazy over the past few years, mostly due to its high quality coupled with an incredibly sleek design and fairly affordable price. The 2020 BMW X3e is the German automaker’s first attempt at turning its popular SUV into a hybrid plug-in. It has the same powertrain as the 330e sedan and includes a 2.0L turbo-four-engine and an electric motor, which gives it an honorable output of 252 horsepower.
You can expect a zero to sixty acceleration time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 130 miles per hour, making it a relatively fast SUV. In case you’re interested in purchasing BMW’s hybrid SUV, you can expect a price tag of about $65,000, but for now, the ball remains in BMW’s court to prove that the X3e functions as an optimal family car, if it wants to be successful.
