Just imagine if you are on a date with your spouse and you can see beautiful aquatic creatures, a colorful school of fish and underwater plants, what a romantic atmosphere! Maybe you’re just looking to relax your nerves after a long week, can you think of a place better than an underwater restaurant?
Under, as it has been duly named, is being built to meet luxurious high standards all over the world, and it will be ready to receive guests soon. However, let’s go over some of the features of this wonder!
Although they started building this restaurant on land, it will be the largest underwater restaurant in Norway, and in the world. It is built to look like a periscope made of concrete on land, and in July 2018, transported or submerged into the waters with water containers and more than eighteen anchor points. The restaurant is about 110 feet long and it is the largest in history.
The interior of this restaurant was designed by Snøhetta, a Norway based Architectural and Interior design company. No doubt, the interior views will be massive! The entrance of the underwater restaurant is glass walkway that serves as the link between the coast and the restaurant itself. With a 36 feet wide panoramic windows on its three floors, you can see the underwater activities going on from your seats. It is large enough to accommodate up to a hundred guests at a time.
While many people may consider it risky, Rune Grasdal of Snøhetta thinks it is more beautiful and aesthetic, to move the restaurant a little farther into the sea, as against the usual placements in the safe, controlled parts at the shore. As a result of the location of the restaurant, it had live more beautiful and realistic marine views that can be found in other underwater restaurants. One other thing that can reduce the safety of the restaurant is the fact that it is in real seawater.
The salt water can creep into the restaurant through edges and corners of the walls and doors. However, the architects and construction engineers did not miss this. It was taken into consideration, and the walls of the underwater restaurant became fully watertight. Not just that, it has been built to survive in almost all harsh weather conditions, even wild winds and waves, and all tests so far have been successful.
Despite the great design templates submitted by the owners and the architectural company, there was a need to place Functionality over aesthetics. The underground restaurant, Under, is meant to be a luxurious and beautiful restaurant that beats all others in the category all over the world. However, lives could be lost as a result of the innovations. So, there was a need to put safety and functionality before beauty and aesthetics.
The design was reviewed severally, and now, the final design will be completed very soon. Although the menu hasn’t really been visited and determined, all of those will be visited before the launch in spring 2019.
